DL1491FR Flame-Resistant Rainsuit: SGS Test Results Explained

Every claim we make about our FR rainwear is backed by third-party testing. Here’s a transparent look at one of those reports — a full breakdown of what was tested, how it was tested, and what the results actually mean for the person wearing this suit.

The Product

Style DL1491FR — Product Specifications
Style No. DL1491FR
Description 3-Piece FR Rainsuit (Jacket, Bib Pants, Hood)
Fabric 100% Polyester + 0.35mm PVC Coating
Color Safety Yellow
Category Adult Industrial Workwear
Manufacturer Shijiazhuang DongLian Co., Ltd.

This standard heavy-duty 3-piece configuration is built for wet, high-visibility work environments where secondary flame exposure is a compliance requirement — oil & gas field maintenance, utility line work, and industrial sites where rain gear needs to provide FR protection.

Application Note: Style DL1491FR is designed for limited flammability and rain protection. It is not intended as primary arc flash protection (NFPA 70E) or for sustained direct-flame environments.

The Testing Framework

Standard
ASTM D6413/D6413M-22
Testing Laboratory
SGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.
Report Number
SL52425330945001TX
Testing Period
September 18–23, 2024

The sample was tested “as received” — no special pre-conditioning or aging, just the fabric as it ships to a customer. Five specimens were tested in each direction (lengthwise and widthwise), since woven and coated fabrics can behave differently depending on grain direction.

The Official SGS Results

Direction Specimen Range Afterflame Time Afterglow Time Char Length (mm) Melting / Dripping
Lengthwise 1 – 5 NIL NIL 99–108 (avg 104) Yes (Y)
Widthwise 1 – 5 NIL NIL 96–108 (avg 101) Yes (Y)

What These Results Mean in Practice

NIL Afterflame — Both Directions

Once the 12-second ignition source was removed, none of the ten specimens continued to burn. The fabric self-extinguished immediately.

NIL Afterglow — Both Directions

Zero residual smoldering after the flame stopped — eliminating the risk of the garment quietly re-igniting after the initial thermal exposure ends.

Consistent Char Length (~101–104mm)

Tight variance between lengthwise and widthwise directions proves uniform PVC coating across the entire fabric lot — not a lucky single sample.

Melting / Dripping Noted (Y)

As a PVC-coated fabric, melting is an inherent physical characteristic under direct flame. Always match fabric type to your site’s specific hazard profile.

Why We Publish This Data

Many suppliers market products as “flame resistant” without ever providing the hard data. At PURAINGEAR, we’d rather you see the exact numbers — including the parts that require professional context — so you can make an informed procurement decision based on facts, not marketing claims.
